particularly in the pool hall, which features
a protective Hydrotect antibacterial coating
(sourced in Germany) on the tiling. In keeping
with the client’s sustainability requests, the tiles
are environmentally friendly, non-toxic and
require minimal cleaning.
The library and function space features a
sweeping, double-storey, zinc-clad form that
opens to the street via a continuous glass facade.
Inside, the client stressed the need to create
a bold space to entice younger people, and
encourage reading, learning and social interaction.
The fan shape of the structure offers a welcoming
atmosphere and steps away from traditional rows
of shelving to create a variety of different spaces.
With an enviable international reputation
and a slew of awards to its name, CHRISTOU has
once again demonstrated the depth and breadth
of their expertise.
