The marina is surrounded by a vibrant
village activated with ample promenades,
shops and restaurants.
product of collective nostalgia and
memories of the beach shacks, shelters
and backyard parties many have
experienced in Cottesloe, The Beach
Club is the ultimate in barefoot luxury.
The design consists of a series of weatherboard
outbuildings and open-air pavilions that define
a number of expanding and contracting outdoor
rooms. This ensures that patrons can enjoy varied
experiences throughout the venue.
The design of the pavilions also defines the
space. Although guests are outside, the roofs
and their links provide shade from direct sun in
summer and offer protection from rain in winter.
The venue needed to be flexible, to accommodate
large groups for a variety of functions, and provide
a number of varied spatial experiences throughout.
Furthermore, McDonald Jones Architects (MJA)
created a venue that is operational year round.
