Defining Designs | Project WA
Set around the periphery of Claremont Oval,
Claremont on the Park will transform a previously
under-utilised parcel of land into a primarily
residential estate, connected to Claremont’s
premier shopping district.
A key deliverable of the State Government’s
Directions 2031 and Beyond planning strategy,
Claremont on the Park was master-planned by
LandCorp (with consultation through the Town
of Claremont) to address Perth’s growing population,
particularly in relation to reducing urban sprawl.
When fully developed, Claremont on the Park
will feature apartments and townhouses integrated
with retail and commercial offerings. The walkable
community is close to recreational facilities,
various parklands, and existing train and other
transport options, so it remains well connected
to the CBD, Fremantle and surrounds.
The redevelopment will also include a rebuild
of the Claremont Football Club’s facilities
following $16.5 million investment from the
TIMELINE Stage 1 around mid-2013
FIONA STANLEY HOSPITAL
Destined to be the premier health facility in WA,
the hospital will service communities south of Perth
and across the state. Construction is well underway
on the Murdoch site (equivalent to four city blocks).
The Fiona Stanley Hospital is a collaboration
between Hames Sharley, Silver Thomas Hanley
and HASSELL, all responsible for the urban design,
architecture, landscape architecture and interior
design for the $2 billion project.
With five main buildings and 643 beds, it will be
a major treatment centre for burns, rehabilitation
and trauma, and 24-hour acute care, plus teaching,
research, medical and surgical services. There
will be comprehensive cancer services, including
radiotherapy and medical oncology, with plans
for mother-and-baby and mental health units.
The State Government is investing more than
$5 million into conservation programs, such as
fauna relocation, and flora and seed collection.
Public transport makes the hospital readily
accessible: it is located less than one kilometre from
the Murdoch bus and rail interchange, and cycle
options help reduce the need for private vehicles.
TIMELINE Completion from 2014, soft landscaping
150,000sqm of floor space, plus 5ha
of bushland, parks and gardens
