The entry artwork is a steel and timber

fter reviewing international
examples of natural play spaces,
Plan (E) set to work on creating a
unique, site-responsive design that
complements the existing landscape.
The design team wanted to look back to
children’s play as it used to be, yet provide
this within the current legal constraints.
Naturescape, with the lay of the land and its
key attributes, allows children, families and
the wider community to connect with nature
through touch, sound and sight.
Plan (E) ensured an environmentally sensitive
approach to conserve significant habitat in the area
that included the arboretum planted in the 1960s,
as well as remnant bushland and unique flora.
The project was completed by LD Total, and
special acknowledgement goes to its naming
partner Rio Tinto, Botanic Gardens & Parks
Authority, Water Corporation and the Perth
Solar City Program.
