Qatar Science and Technology Park | Woods Bagot | RESEARCH INSTITUTIONAL
Qatar’s Science and Technology
Park (QSTP) is a key initiative of
the Qatar Foundation, set to establish
Qatar as a knowledge economy in
the Middle East.
Working alongside Qatar Petroleum Project
and Construction Management, Woods Bagot has
created a masterplan that encompasses 123ha of
land, which is integrated with the facilities of the
Qatar Foundation, its new teaching hospital and
the new convention centre.
The design included a series of key features,
such as reflecting a global research-and-
development best-practice facility, flexibility to
configure laboratory floors, optimise the future
and be adaptable to changing research needs, and
incorporate atria spaces for informal meetings.
When the brief first came out, it was written
based on benchmarking other facilities, such as
Oxford Science Park and others, mainly from the
UK. When Woods Bagot first met with the head
of the Qatar Foundation, Sheikha Mozah, she
made it very clear that she wanted something
different, unique and unlike other commercial
office parks or science parks.
