equiring a builder who was willing to
work closely with them to produce
their vision, City of Perth enlisted
BADGE to carry out the iconic South
Perth Civic Centre project.
Comprised of part demolition, part extension
and complete refurbishment of the two buildings,
the impressive new structure features a large
north-facing walled window, stunning curved
external walls that bring the building into the
modern era, a commercial-grade kitchen and
extensive office refurbishments.
Consideration was given to a cleaner, energy-
efficient future, including expansive solar panels
to reduce grid usage, a solar hot water system and
large rainwater tanks to reduce mains-water use.
Adding to the aesthetics and prestige of the
project, coloured Alucobond panelling and curtain
walling were used externally to provide that ‘wow’
factor. Inside, timber wall panels with matching
doors and perforated ceilings provide visual
interest, while at the entrance, guests are greeted
with a high-tech holographic display of various
images of South Perth.
BADGE’s alliances with Michael Kent (City
of South Perth) and Geoff Clough (Peter Hunt
Architects) have ensured the success of this
