Mirrabooka Hospitality Centre encompasses a design that
integrates with existing facilities on site and creates a high
profile to the major public street frontage
djacent to a busy major road with
limited redeeming features or potential
for a pleasant outlook, Mirrabooka
Hospitality Centre’s plan and siting is
designed to focus the major entry and cafe verandah
spaces away from the street. The verandah looks
towards an existing landscaped area that will be
enhanced in the near future.
The building’s main frontage running along
Nollamarra Avenue has been designed to be
a dramatic metal-clad facade that is visually
interesting during the day and night.
A major verandah and sunken forecourt,
orientated to the north east and the landscaped area
beyond, provides a place for entry, alfresco cafe
dining and an outdoor function space.
Natural light is introduced to selected interiors
including the cafe, corridors and kitchens via raised
clerestory windows and skylights. Mechanical
services plant equipment is concealed behind lower
roof lines and roof-mounted screened enclosures.
The cafe space is designed to be both naturally
ventilated when the conditions are right and
air-conditioned in extreme weather conditions.
The cafe itself is designed with a range of seating
opportunities and can be expanded in size using
an acoustically rated operable wall to include the
adjacent seminar function space.
