ST GEORGE’S CATHEDRAL
HERITAGE PRECINCT PROJECT
Everything old will be new again, with the St
George’s Cathedral Heritage Precinct project
taking over Perth’s heritage buildings in the
CBD. The redevelopment involves five individual
projects totalling $580 million, including a luxury
hotel, public library, 35-level tower to house
the Supreme Court, refurbishment of the Public
Trustee building, and an underground car park to
service the entire site.
The consortium involved includes the State
Government, City of Perth, Hong Kong-based hotel
operators Aman, local real estate company FJM
Property, developers Mirvac and CBus Property,
Perth’s Anglican diocese and Kerry Hill Architects.
Aman Resort Hotel | The Old Treasury Buildings,
vacant for more than 15 years, will be converted
into a six-star boutique hotel. Preservation is key
for the 48-room luxury development, which
will include a private library for guests.
City of Perth Public Library and Plaza | The
existing Law Chambers building will be
demolished in order to make way for the new
$55 million City of Perth Library.
Supreme Court Tower | A new 35-storey office
tower will be home to the Supreme Court, which
will occupy the lower 15 floors. The tower will
provide 29,000sqm of new office space.
Public Trustee Building | The Public Trustee
building – to be refurbished and renamed Church
House – will deliver 8000sqm of office space.
COST $580 million
TIMELINE First works mid-2012, with completion
due by the end of 2014
