THE WESTERN AUSTRALIAN ECONOMY IS BOOMING...
e live in a land awash with natural resources in a region that is growing rapidly and is
desperate for natural resources and energy. Despite the woes of Europe, our major client
– the world’s second-largest economy – is still growing at more than 8 per cent per
annum. There is more than $200 billion worth of industrial development locked in, with
new projects announced every other week.
What we need now are more people, homes, office space, bars, restaurants and infrastructure, bigger
towns and a bigger capital city. And we need them yesterday. In 2011 alone, more than 55,000 new
residents settled in WA. New housing developments aren’t coming close to meeting demand.
We are on the cusp of an historic period of development not seen since the gold rush of the 1890s. This
makes it an extraordinarily exciting time for commercial building and design in WA.
