The Professional Centre will house Shire
Administration on the upper level, with a mixed
use of commercial and community facilities on
the ground floor. A folded canopy roof structure
is complemented by louvres and perforated metal
screens to cope with the harsh environment.
Simultaneously it builds on the same
architectural language of the Sports Pavilion.
ONSLOW BASKETBALL COURTS, TOM PRICE
Onslow Basketball Courts form a small part of
a new multi-million dollar sports and aquatic
precinct that will contribute to the public facilities.
These facilities will be necessary to service
what will be one of the fastest-growing centres
in the country, a result of the mammoth
investment in the gas resources that can be
found in the area.
The proposed canopy structure, a hybrid
of steel and fabric membrane roofing, will be
the catalyst and entry statement to the future
Located alongside a newly built multi-purpose
building (fully funded by the Royalties for Regions
program), the courts nestle in the natural terrain
letting surrounding banks form spectator stands.
With the vision and support of the Shire of
Ashburton and the team behind the Tom Price
Town Centre Revitalisation Program, Roxby
Architects have been given a great opportunity
to help create a sense of place in a region that
enjoys a unique and passionate community.
“THE PROPOSED CANOPY STRUCTURE, A HYBRID
OF STEEL AND FABRIC MEMBRANE ROOFING, WILL
BE THE CATALYST AND ENTRY STATEMENT TO THE
FUTURE SPORTING PRECINCT”
The Onslow Basketball Courts
structure is equipped to defend itself
rigorously against the sometimes
harsh and cyclonic environment.
