Multiplex Living's Tim Willing says the
popularity of apartment living is growing.
He says the success of the new Claremont
Residences, situated above the retail precinct
Claremont Quarter, indicates an attitude shift
among Perth's property buyers.
"In the past few years, we've noticed a change
in perception of apartment living in Perth --
there's a growing thirst for this style of home,
both as an investment and place to live.
"Five years ago, we would not have dreamed
a development like Claremont Residences could
have been snapped up so quickly by so many
individual buyers -- it seems more buyers are
seeing the value in apartments."
Stage 1 of Claremont Residences, a joint venture
between SPB Australia and Multiplex Living,
consists of 48 apartments and nine penthouses.
e one-bedroom apartments sold from
$680,000, two-bedroom apartments sold from

in excess of $3 million.

Lifestyle is also the driving force behind the
new Vale community in the Swan Valley.

community, Vale, due to be completed in 2016,
is expected to become home to 15,000 residents
in 5,000 homes.

commercial amenities such as an IGA

A mix of premium, park and lake front home
sites are for sale in Vale's Central Park precinct.
Multiplex Living's managing director for
communities Anthony Rowbottam said strong
sales from the Parkside release, which included
lots ranging from 450 to 815sqm, indicated
that there was a demand for premium lots in
the area not only from existing Vale residents
wanting to upgrade, but also those wanting
to move into the Swan Valley.
" e Central Park precinct epitomises the
Vale lifestyle," Anthony says. " e area, coined
as the 'jewel in the crown' of Vale, has been
much anticipated by existing residents, as well
as by eager buyers for quite some time.
"We have seen continued strong sales within
Vale throughout the year despite the harsh
Central Park North, Stage 2 of the project,
is made up of 20 cottage lots priced from $185,000
and ranging in size from 300 to 405sqm.
Within walking distance of the town centre,

downsize while taking advantage of the Swan
LandCorp general manager (metropolitan)
Luke Willcock says sustainable developments
are an emerging factor in many residential
developments in WA.
"Developers are increasingly considering
all sustainability aspects in their developments and
some are beginning to use performance criteria
and assessment tools to ensure balanced outcomes
that consider the environmental, economic and
social aspects of a development," he says.
" ese factors increase the quality of a
development and the value for end-users, while
considering commercial factors and stakeholders."
Luke says LandCorp considers all sustainability
elements in not only its residential projects, but
also its regional and industrial projects, and is
applying "triple bottom line" criteria (economic,
ecological and social) into the design and
assessment of their developments.
Two examples where this has occurred, and
for which LandCorp has won sustainability
awards, are Harvest Lakes, a residential estate
in Atwell, and Januburu Six Seasons, a family-
friendly development in Broome.
