NOVOTEL NINGALOO RESORT, EXMOUTH
"Create a resort that embodies and espouses
Exmouth" -- that was the main objective on the
brief given to the Oldfield Knott team. e clients
wanted to capitalise on the beauty, serenity and
uniqueness of this location.
To do this, architect Frank Iemma designed the
resort with predominantly linear lines to reflect
Exmouth's long, flat, horizontal planes. e low-
lying linear building forms sit gently on the site,
and do not impose or dominate the setting.
e use of materials such as rammed earth gives
a strong connection to the surroundings and the
lightweight aluminium cladding responds to the
oceanside setting and ensures low maintenance.
Novotel Ningaloo Resort's project manager and
director, Garry Cossill, said Oldfield Knott tailored
the design to complement the surroundings.
" e team of Oldfield Knott Architects was
selected based on their impressions and vision for
the resort. e resort has won several construction,
tourism and architectural commendation awards
and the feedback from our customers is that we
have achieved a high quality and unique resort."
