e West Centre's black, grey and terracotta
coloured granite walls steered the colour palette
of the salon. e design is streamlined with careful
detailing and the colour palette is warm and
earthy, mixed with contrasting shiny metallic
e design is centred on curved forms and
shapes. It consists of fabricated metallic panels
and "jigsaw" style cut outs. e intention of the
design is to appear "pod-like" with its recessed
illuminated base giving a floating effect.
A key concern for the client was a lack of
storage. Display units were designed to cater
specifically for Redken products as seen in the
entry and shampoo lab. e mobile trolleys
were also designed to cater for specific hair
equipment as well as waste units for used foils.
Lighting was also crucial -- the team had to
ensure enough "warm" light at each workstation.
Owner Nikki Murray said she was
overwhelmed with the outcome.
"Meyer Shircore was a delight to work with
and I am really happy with the design -- it is
different to any other hair salon I have seen and it
differentiates us from our competitors.
" e use of the colours and shapes make it look
so inviting and appealing, and we have had a lot
of new customers who have booked in after seeing
the salon when walking past."
